Platform

Ask your data a precise question.

Query Studio runs queries over your own spans, logs and metrics. Build one with the form or write it in OQL, then view a table or a chart, save it, add it to a dashboard or alert on it.

What you get

A form or text, your choice

The builder takes up to 20 filters, 4 group-bys and 8 aggregations, plus formulas, a top-N per group and a comparison with an hour, a day or a week earlier. OQL is a pipe language with range, where, stats, eval, select, order, top, limit and compare.

Use the answer elsewhere

Save a query, add it to a dashboard, use it as a Saved Query alert rule, or call it from a script with a read token.

Only your data

Your workspace is added to every query on the server, and the time range is limited to what your plan keeps.

How it works

  1. Choose a dataset

Spans, logs, or one of the metric types.

  2. Build or write the query

Add filters and groupings in the form, or type OQL.

  3. Run it

The default is 100 rows and the most you can ask for is 1,000. A query that takes more than ten seconds is stopped.

Limits worth knowing

  • OQL has limits. It has no joins, subqueries, OR, regular expressions or comments.
  • Count on spans counts spans. It does not count requests.
  • Saving is for admins. A workspace keeps up to 200 saved queries.

Ask the question you have been guessing at.

Send some spans and write your first query.
